Andalucía, one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations among Brits, has consolidated its credentials as a destination safe to receive international visitors with the introduction of a new “International Travel Insurance”. This new insurance is valid for all non-resident international travellers and provides visitors with free COVID-19 insurance for stays at any type of regulated establishment in the region from 01 January to 31 December 2021.

Andalucia is one of Spain’s most popular destinations for tourists from all over Europe

The International Travel Insurance comes as part of a strategy from the Government of Andalucía to help the recovery of its tourism industry which is vital to supporting the local economy. Following on from the UK Government’s announcement regarding the roadmap for recovery, the region has seen a surge in bookings from the UK and this insurance aims to further install confidence amongst the UK travelling public to help bolster the summer season and beyond.

The types of coverage and circumstances covered in the case of a COVID-19 infection include medical, surgical and hospitalisation expenses with a maximum cost of €4,000, medical expenses for transportation and repatriation, as well as the costs of extending a stay at the regulated accommodation for the policyholder and their companions.

Juan Marín, Vice President of the Regional Government of Andalucía and Minister of Tourism, commented: “The introduction of the International Travel Insurance for Andalucía has consolidated our preparedness to once again begin receiving tourists. Hospitality and tourism are vital to the local economy of Andalucía and the UK is an important source market for us, so it is with pleasure that we can confidently say we are in a position to welcome back our British visitors.

“Andalucía is a destination that offers a plethora of attractions from beautiful hillside towns, expansive areas of natural landscape, pristine beaches and a profound cultural heritage that has given rise to incredible art, architecture and gastronomy. The diversity of our tourist proposition coupled with the assurances that the International Travel Insurance brings to prospective tourists makes Andalucía a top choice for Brits planning their well-earned overseas holiday.”
