Hummingbird Hall provides guests with peace and tranquility

Think of Jamaica, and its pulsating culture, tropical climate, fiery cuisine and spectacular scenery likely come to mind. The island is adored by an international jet-set drawn to the privacy, tranquillity and enviable lifestyle that it has to offer. Jamaica holds a definite allure.

This can be seen most clearly on the Rose Hall Estate, a 5,000-acre ‘arcadia’ where James Bond was filmed, Johnny Cash and international celebrities live/lived, and which boasts golf courses, lakes, waterfalls, private beaches and mile-upon-mile of glorious

Sweet scented

In 2009, architects were briefed to create an opulent and inviting space that blurred the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, contained subtle references to the harmony of nature, and was grounded into the coastal landscape. Completed to great acclaim in 2009, Hummingbird Hall is a mansion-villa which pays homage to nature, inspires entertaining and celebrates wellness, exploration and creativity.

The Hall is a luxury destination for weddings

The main house has four sumptuous bedrooms and many other inviting spaces. All rooms are sweet-scented as the trade-winds circulate. In the grounds, connected to the main house by way of the deck, sits a three-bedroom guest cottage. Surrounded by nature, this overflow accommodation boasts more sublime views. Hummingbird Hall’s gardens are romantic and picturesque. There are lawns, formal and wild beds, a waterfall, a dovecote and strong trees for hammocks and shade. The gardens are frequented by hummingbirds, woodpeckers, parakeets, parrots, doves and mockingbirds.

Hummingbird Hall’s pantry also overflows with delicious wild honey gathered from its own grounds. What’s more, the soil produces sun-ripened mangoes, limes, oranges, coconuts, papayas, pomegranates, June plums, grapefruits, ackee and avocados.

In addition to being a much-loved family home, Hummingbird Hall grew – quite accidentally – to become one of the Caribbean’s premier luxury destination wedding venues. Although currently wound down, the (optional) business offers Hummingbird Hall’s new owners with the opportunity to generate a 6-figure income if they wish.

Moments from Montego Bay’s plush hotels, beaches, shopping and restaurants yet completely private and self-contained it’s only 15 minutes from the airport but with the air of splendid remoteness – Hummingbird Hall Jamaica offers dreamy upscale living with a tropical flair.
