Andrew Michelin, director, of Keyonna Beach Resort, Antigua, the all-inclusive, adults-only, resort, is pleased to announce the property is now a four-star resort. Set on a secluded long white beach, located on Johnson’s Point, Antigua’s South-Western coastline, Keyonna Beach has also undergone a series of renovations and for the forthcoming winter season is happy to unveil a series of new initiatives.
Two plunge pools have been added to two beach cottages and four of the Beach House rooms have been enlarged and have received a total upgrade, inside and out. New floorings and soft furnishings have been added and new ‘his & her’ outside showers ensure guests can take a dip in the sea yards away and return for a quick shower in the comfort of their own private accommodation.
The chef programme, which was initiated in January 2016 and ran until May, saw seven chefs fly over (two weeks at a time) to help train the resort’s team of chefs, and will be continued once again this winter, with a number of chefs going to Keyonna commencing January 2017. Star London chocolatier and patissier, William Curley, who has a chocolate boutique in Harrods will be going over once again to help the new resort’s patissier.
The restaurant staff will receive some training too. Returning after a three year absence, Donato Mazolla, former maître’d at Conde Nast’s best hotel in Italy and currently maître’d at Hotel Borgo Egnazia – Virtuoso’s top resort in Italy, will be joining the team, coaching and assisting the team in very much the same way. He will be there from December 2016 to March 2017. And, fresh back in November from a stint in France touring the vineyards and building on his already comprehensive knowledge will be the Keyonna Beach Resort’s wine steward Rohan Jarvis.
Keyonna Beach Resort offers spacious accommodation in magnificent beach settings all with fabulous views of the sea, four Beach Front Plunge Pool Cottages, set on the beach with a private plunge pool and a cordless butler phone, allows guests to call for service in the comfort of their beach bed or plunge pool. Twelve Beach View Cottages and eight Beach House Rooms are positioned either with a view of the beach and sea, or directly overlooking the beach. All rooms and cottages come with king-sized four-poster beds, air-conditioning and wi-fi. The absence of television and radio ensure the distractions of 21st century living won’t infringe on the perfect Antiguan experience. When couples venture on the beach, they can rest assured their own private Carib Beach Bed will be waiting. A rum cart makes regular appearances along the beach, serving guests a selection of rum punches and cocktails, at the comfort at their own bed.
